My reference is taken from Browser speed comparisons

So overall, Opera seems to be the fastest browser for Windows. Firefox is not faster than Internet Explorer, except for scripting, but for standards support, security and features, it is a better choice. However, it is still not as fast as Opera, and Opera also offers a high level of standards support, security and features.
Opera has recently released version 10 with turboboost(!) which looks good, and is very quick. It has an integrated email client, and irc chat, password and download manager, and all kinds of other helpful stuff.

However, Opera is a bit difficult to use with Paypal and some internet banking, and the CPPE site spits at you if you don't use IE.

    I love it.
    ....just my opinion

    Thanks, I'll try it!

I tried to download the update but it didn't seem to work. I will try again tomorrow.

A browser to read things that I'm not interested in when I'm not there would be really useful. <g>

    Update?

I run it off a stick, as you may know, and so the update was a bit more tricky for me: I had to rename some files manually as there have been a few sea changes in this release. But if you had tried opera 9.x before and are updating from there it should run OK.

If the next version comes with a build in breakfast serving funktion and a coffee on demand button, imagine what I am supposed to do?

Better stick with Mozilla, they have 3.6 version in making and it is much better than the current version, plus if you are facing any compatibility issue with any website, just download a IE tab pluggin for Mozilla.

I have both. I prefer firefox but Opera is better if I am on a slow (GPRS) connection on my laptop dongle as the turbo speeds up the downloads.

    Re: Using Opera vs Firefox

I prefer Firefox personally. I like the way it updates frequently, and being open source it is updated more often and will not be smashed by financial crises or companies not being arsed to make it anymore. Netscape is a nice example.

Apprently the CPPE website not only spits but also hisses inanely if you're not using windows, never mind IE. *Shakes head*

If you are just after a speedy basic web browser then try Google Chrome.
