    Re: Pharmsys

Depends which area you are in, I work in a few different areas, from London down the M3 to Hampshire. Some PCTs are not yet ready and don't appear to be interested in it for a while, and certainly in one area I often work in last week the local GPs said we don't want it, will not use it, they don't even use ETP1 yet so don't want to be involved in any starting problems with 2. The nearest ones to me using it are on the Isle of Wight, and I know from a group email chat yesterday that its not gone to plan there, with pharmacies not getting scripts by the time the patient arrives, and having to phone the GP each time. I think most the patients I deal with will say keep the paper.....

Sometimes I go to pharmacies that have a large number of EPS1 scripts, then I have days at some sites and don't see a single one, time will tell, but I for one would not want to rush into EPS2.

There is only ONE GP system that has full roll out approval for EPS2 - Emis web. Others have EPS1 only.

I think INPS Vision is also accredited.
I've seen a rush of PCT's asking about our EPS status with surgeries set to create pairings in December and January.

    Possibly, the link above states
A revised build for DLM350 (EPSr2) has been deployed to FOT sites.
Whatever that means. It doesn't specifically state full roll out approval though.

    Re: Pharmsys

a quick update from friends who have been using EPS2.. PCTs lack the time to support any issues, and I know of one site where EPS2 failed and it took several days to get scripts flowing again, glad I was not in that pharmacy! Some good comments about repeat prescriptions but still lots of unanswered questions. Within some surgeries, G.Ps are refusing to use it, so even though they claim that they are ready, it does not mean its being used!

Informacist has it right, wait and see what happens, don't jump onto the eps2 bandwagon yet, keep hold of your cash, you may end up paying a lot before you see one script. I still see enough paper scripts without barcodes...

Yes I agree, although most GP surgeries are supposedly going live in the next 6 months, in my opinion the system is not ready and it would be better to have a look how it progresses before jumping in at the deep end.

This puts the system in the NHS Catch-22 and it will not get improved unless there is evidence that it needs to improve.
It will also mean that pharmacy suppliers will delay development of enhancements to make the systems more useable.

Just my 2 tablets worth and I'm not intending to join the debate.
Where am I?; In the Pharmacy.
Who are you?; The new Number 2.
Who is number 1?; You are number 6.
    What do you want?;..................
