    Working with ETP

I find myself losing information when working with ETP.
So any workarounds people have found would be nice.

Since ETP doesn't drop you into the patients records in any meaningful sense I find that I am no longer aware of which are new drugs or changed doses.
(NB but it does force me to use changed dose rather than repeating the old one)

I used to have reminder information on the patients label (e.g. calendar pack please) This is lost when labelling from ETP. So my workaround is to make a patient note and a reminder on the address label to see patient notes. The other work around is a post-it note attached to the script with the reminder copied from the screen.

    How does everyone else cope?

What system do you use as this will make a difference to the way the messages are interpreted?

Currently RxSystems proscript does show a screen comparing items on the script with PMR with a button click to view patient records if required. If you use proscript and do not get this screen you need a program update.

If you have entered patient notes in the address fields in order that they print on bag labels then this is lost when the patients address is copied from the spine. However AFAIK this only happens the first time. Following prescriptions are matched on the nhs number so the address remains unchanged. You can therefore reenter the messages and they won't get lost again. Proscript has a bag label message field in the patient record so you can add messages here and they do not get lost at any point. (If they do then a program update is required.) Again this is for Proscript.

At the end of the ETP input if you press escape to go back rather than f10 to endorse?
It still means that you have to actively search for changed dosage or strength rather than note that they have been changed while labelling.

Outside of my control I'm afraid.

That's the one I'm using instead of information added to labels.

    Many thanks

......by not using it, ETP has very few redeeming features IMO.

ETP at the moment seems to consist mostly of me banging my head against a wall until the bloody thing works. Then phoning up connecting for health to find out the spine is down. again. Sometimes i just want to frisbee my damned smartcard across the dispensary.
Can't wait for release 2! When the spine goes down we get completely buggered. Imagine that - "sorry sir/madam, your ultra-vital, gotta-have-it-or-you'll-die script hasn't come to us yet because the spine is down. They have told us it might be up again tomorrow. Or the day after."

Methinks it might be time to become a squeaky wheel soon...

The Welsh 2DRX project seems to be more logical.
No spine - the script is encoded on the WP10 form (Welsh FP10) as 2D barcode blocks.

If this was put on to EPSR2 scripts, so that the script itself was the spine in case of a spine outage then all would be well.

Hope this makes sense to someone!
