Default Perindopril Tab 4mg- 2 In Morning And 1 At Night.

Got a script for the above, Perindopril 4mg tabs, 2in the morning and 1 at night. As soon as i clapped eyes on it, thought it was a bit strange and unusual. The patient has been taking this for 18 months and it has never been queried. Patient is also taking frusemide, aspirin, gabapentin, fentanyl patches, senna, lactulose,

BNF states that 8mg daily is the maximum daily dose.

Contacted GP, who are now looking into it.

Anybody have any thoughts on this or seen anything similar??

I've heard up to 16mg in Canada. GP had a training there?

Perindopril is only licenced here up to 8mg. The makers of Coversyl have done trials up to 16mg, and although the drug was well tolereated, there was not a greal improvement in lowering of BP so their licence only goes to 8mg.
