Medscape is a pretty common online database resource that students get told about to help with things like final year projects. I personally have never used it although it depends what you want it for.

It is a legit site, I have been registered for some time.

You get e-mails about once a week and most of them are useful, although I agree that it is very American, but that is the only off-putting thing about it.
