Post Launch of British Journal of Clinical Pharmacy

The British Journal of Clinical Pharmacy - issues affecting you and your patients

This is a new (& free ) journal for pharmacists. My other half (also a pharmacist) had a copy send to his workplace & it looks quite good so I have subscribed.
One less reason to join the NPB if there is a decent pharmacy journal avalilable as an alternative to PJ

Is it not a publication of the Pharmaceutical Press? Mmebership of the NPB will probably get it free for you.

re: Current Letters and Content: British Journal of Clinical Pharmacy

    Tony is right, I think.

My recollection is that it is a replacement for "Hospital Pharmacist" but, as I never read that, I couldn't say. However I might get 9 * CPDs out of it before I stop getting it with my PJ.

Assuming you pay your fees to the RPSGB.....yes.

However in the new world when you will not be required to be registered with the professional body, only the regulatory GPhC, only members of the professional body will get a PJ without paying seperately for it.

It will be interesting to see how its priced, won't it?

Bearing in mind that at present it makes money for the old-pb, I wonder if they will prejudice the near-monopoly of their advertising by making it expensive.

They only get one chance to get this right.

    The choice might be
    a. charge a lot to non-npb members in the hope that this increases membership to the npb

    b. Allow access to news and adverts online free to registrants of the GPhC and pharmacy students, in the hope that ....

    c. a and b in some combination

    d. Get it wrong and give the revenue to C & D, or some enterprising online forum-owner

No doubt Jeff will come up with option e.
    ....just my opinion

Increase advertising content and give it away free..........like the Metro!

re: Current Letters and Content: British Journal of Clinical Pharmacy

To clarify....'Clinical Pharmacist' is the publication from the PP which replaces 'Hospital Pharmacist' and is available free to members of RPSGB and will presumably in the future be available to members of the NPB.

'British Journal of Clinical Pharmacy' is also free but not published by PP so therefore will presumably still be available free to those pharmacists who choose not to join the NPB.

Continuing to get my weekly PJ is one of the few (perhaps only ) reasons why I may consider joining the NPB... there is very little else I have heard or read so far which makes me feel inclined to join!

My point was that if there is a decent Pharmacy journal available free, which is not linked to the NPB then I am even less inclined to join up

Once GPhC and separate membership body kicks in, perhaps those couples who both join the professional body, which will be publishing the PJ (and get two copies of the PJ to their house, even though have asked over the years for a reduction in fee as only need one copy) could sell one of the unread copies at a discounted cost vs the subscription. Just feeling tight, and had this sudden thought to make some money!

Question re: Current Letters and Content: British Journal of Clinical Pharmacy

    Probably unethical or something
