    Should i continue to take?

I had been complaining about chest pain the other day, so i went to see the doctor. The doctor prescribed me 3 drugs as followed:

    1. Famotidine
    2. Ponstan (Mefril-250 Mefenamic acid)
    3. Anarex tablet

After having my meals (which includes coffee and noodles) and taking the medicine, i felt giddy, and i was unable to focus. My limbs felt so weak, and my heart was racing. I have slight difficulty in breathing. I was then sent to the hospital Emergency department. I took X-ray, ECG and blood test, and all of the results were ok.

I'm really afraid to continue to take the drugs that was prescribed to me the other day. Should i continue to take it? or should i stop it? Is there anything to do with the coffee i drank the other time? (Cause coffee contains caffeine)

I think this poster is from outside the UK. Probably from USA. As brands mentioned not marketed in UK.

Well, Scouty's IP and email addresses place him in Singapore, and although the IP has been used for a bit of "comment spam" in the past, it might be because it's an internet cafe, dynamically allocated or college address.

I think someone with access to the BNF should look it up and answer the questions, TBH. Day off for me, today!

Anarex is the Singapore version of the old Norgesic tablets in the UK, btw, orphenadrine citrate and paracetamol.

Actually, I would want to know what the doctor said was wrong with you, Scouty, as well as the drugs you are taking.

It's always a good idea to limit intake of the caffeine, particularly at times when you are feeling anxious.

Your symptoms sound like side effects of orphenadrine, which is one of the drugs in Anarex. I think you will feel better if you stop taking Anarex.

The three drugs which you have been prescribed are an unusual combination. What did the doctor diagnose you with?

    Lads...I'm sure this guy's a spammer..pure and simple.

Guarantee his next posts will introduce a link to Viagra or cheap handbags.

I wouldn't offer him the time of day..Won't ban him yet. No real reason to. Don't waste time on this one though.

Sorry bobbin, i can't log in to my previous account, so i have to use another account to reply you guys. Im scouty. By the way I am NOT any spam or what ever shit. I'm not sure what the doctor diagnose me with... she just told me that it could be my muscles that's aching... so she prescribed me with those drugs... she also mentioned if, nothing gets better, i will need to go and consult a cardiologist.

And hey m8, don't make conclusions too quickly. I came here to look for help from you guys. I'm not a spammer. I'm not from the internet cafe or wherever. I'm just in my home now.

Re: Should i continue to take?

Hi Alvin, well, as Bobbin says, its difficult to help you: I think you should discuss this with your doctor, TBH. Your presenting problem was chest pain, and it developing into breathlessness and dizziness might be further symptoms of the condition which the doctor needs to know about.

There IS a possibility that it's due to the Anarex, but even so you need to go back to your doctor.

As far as whether you are a spammer or not: I don't think you can blame us for asking the question. You have used two IP addresses (very close together, but even so), and two email addresses - a hotmail and now a gmail - both beloved of spammers. We moderators like to show how on the ball we are, you know!

Let us know how you get on at your doctors. I personally would stop taking the anarex and just take plain paracetamol instead, but that is secondary to going back to the doctor.

Thanks for replying. I didn't get back to my GP, but the doctor in A&E department didn't ask me to stop taking the drug. He said is ok. But after that incident, i stopped taking all the drugs. My chest pain have gone now by the way... after some rest. I've also booked an cardio checkup coming June. Hopes everything is alright.

By the way, since i'm in a pharmaceutical forum, i would like to ask. Does it help for someone to take charcoal pills if someone drank a bottle of detergent?
