Both have similar modes of action, have similar indications and they both depress cardiac function, verapamil more so than diltiazem. So I would guess probably not.

It would have most of us on the phone to the doctor, thinking someone has boobed.

speaking of administering two same class of drugs, I saw on one drug chart that solifenacin and tolerodine were prescribed the same time... and the patient ended up suffering from massive constipation

Computer systems could warn against this type of thing, but many of them have this feature switched off?
    Why?
    Because they over-alert...
eg two drugs for hypotension etc.

I had clopidogrel and dipyridamole together in the middle of a nightmare script for a new patient. They turned out not to want the clopidogrel anymore but I'm just glad that the patient understood what they were taking!

Could this be an example of the 'repeat prescription trap'.
Patient requests only medication they required, but practice staff in a hurry just repeat the lot?
