    Migraine; a strange occurence

As I’m non-practising, I’m looking for comments on this from those who are still up to speed.
A friend was flat out with a terrible migraine, in dark, in bedroom. Apparently the teenage son of some visitors arrived and insisted they HAD to help her. They came in, she says she could not move or see them, but the boy laid his hands on her head, pressed, then said 'and now you will sleep' and she did! Apparently they left almost immediately, their only explanation for visiting was that "her signal was too strong to ignore". She is around my age, has had migraine all her adult life and this is the only time something like this has happened. Relief was very, very much quicker than she expected.

My acquaintance asks what signal was she sending, how did he receive it, and anyway, why did it work. She'd never seen the family before, nor has she since.

Anyone got a reasonable explanation? Preferably with references?

    Comments welcome.

PS. This has appeared on another pharmacy website; most responses I got were sarcastic comments around self-limiting conditions.

Well as you know, we are much friendlier here. You will rarely see posts from me on 'the other place'.

Laying on of hands goes back into the mists of time. My wife has had NHS prescribed accupuncture and it is possible that touch stimulates similar receptors.

Fortunately sarcasm, arrogance and ignorance are also self-limiting conditions, given lots of time.

Sounds like some form of spiritual healing. Here is a site that doesn't seem too much for a scientist to look at......

The International Center for Reiki Training

The ability to do hands on healing is reputed to be a side-effect of meditation, see my thread: Meditation for stress relief and personal development
