There's a Senior Clinical Pharmacist where i work who is aiming to get twice as many letters after his name than are actually in it. I thought that was a fantastic target to acheive, however quite a distant prospect from where i am at the moment (don't even have MPharm after my name yet only a year to go though)

One university offers this qualifrication (no abbreviation approved) PgDip Overseas Pharmacists Assessment Programme which has more letters than in most people's full names, although I'm not sure that its meant for putting after your name.

Posted in jest Mr. Fuff..hence the smiley. A plethora of letters after a person's name just doesn't impress me as it may impress some others. Especially when they insist on writing them down at every given opportunity.
Whilst I am sure your friend is not of that type, I can assure you there are many who are.

Yeah, that would be the new 'Masters in Medicines Management' or come random title like that. I manage just fine with my Clinical Diploma from Derby Uni - 2 years was enough for me. I think you always learn more 'on the hop' anyway, although to get anything higher than a '7' in the NHS now, you have to have a clinical diploma.

Question Re: What post-grad qualifications do you have?

    Hello everyone ,

I have a question related to this thread . I graduated with a B pharm degree at 2007 from Ain Shams university , Cairo , Egypt . I wanted to specialize in clinical pharmacy . Right now I live in Abu Dhabi , UAE . I have the opportunity to join for a Clinical Pharmacy PgC/PgD/MSc offered by Robert Gordan university , Scotland through an agency here . It's a part time distant-learning program with a brief residential period . So I don't have to leave my job or travel for full time learning.

What do you think about this Msc program and the university ? Is it accredited world wide ? And does it worth the efforts and money . I'm an international student and will be paying about 30% of my salary in 2 years to fund this degree , but I hope it might enable me to join highly reputed hospitals and have a better salary , and of-course the experience itself .

I need advise on this issue please . The course will start Jan 2011 .

    1) Government cap on students coming into force. Ensure have all the correct visas etc.
    2) RGU is an eminent sop situated in Aberdeen. This is Scotland and you may find snow a novelty.
    3) Lots of overseas students at RGU doing OSPAP. You are bound to find some friends.
    good luck

Thanks Johnep for the reply , but I think my situation is different . I won't travel there except for very short periods ( few days a year) , other than that I'll be working in Abu Dhabi .Of-course when I come I'll make sure to have a valid visa . It's a distance learning program ( like an online program ) for most of it . Here 's a link of it :

Clinical Pharmacy MSc Distance learning - School of Pharmacy and Life Sciences | Robert Gordon University (RGU) Aberdeen Scotland

My main concern is the validity of the program . Is it internationally accredited ? And what about the reputation of RGU ?
