    Hip Hip Hooray

As some of you may know, had a left hip replacement a couple of weeks ago.

Yesterday had some slight pain behind the knee and today nurse came and
confirmed have pain and swelling in calf.

So, I am to have my first ambulance ride to Addenbrookes in an hour or so for some tests. Will let you know how I get on.

Have been having Clexane 40 units daily but now likely to get a higher dose.

Sure it is not my blood that is clotting, more likely the person who donated the blood for my transfusions (Zoggie?) was carrying a clotting factor called Factor V liebig.

    Good Luck.

My eldest son had some minor procedure done at Addenbrookes when he was at the Uni there, always thought it was a really good hospital.

Thanks, After about four hours waiting around had a doppler scan and pronounced no sign of DVT. Will apparently have another check up next week.
    Thats a relief.

Good news John..best of luck with your recovery..shouldn't take long. By the way, my own mother had three hip replacements done (one replacement had to be replaced). Couldn't keep her still after that!..she took her Zimmer out to the bin and trashed it herself...

Boy small world hey. I got a complete hip replacement when I was 21, I am now 44 and although its creaky and I need my pain killers and meloxicam I still have the same one - called a charnley. It's 24 in August!

Occasionally I do set the metal detectors off at airports etc but have become to realise if I walk to the RHS of the detector (left hip) it isn't picked up. Stray too far to the left and it's a frisking for me!

Best bit is if you register as being disabled you get the car badge and finding parking is easier.

Parking easier with a blue badge? Not so, especially at supermarkets. Staff park in them and so to non- blue badge holders. I've recently contacted ASDA about this problem ( hubby still waiting for his now for over a month). I asked if we could park in the Parent and Child bays displaying said blue badge and was told I would likely to incur a penalty. After emailing the company that "police" ASDA's car park's was told we "should not incur a penalty". Try Youreable.com - The leading disability resource for disabled people and check out the motoring section.

I promise to do my best to stir things up. All started at student union meetings when a group of us decided to propose all sorts of motions to liven up the proceedings. Once we proposed that the union invest in a CD (conception Date) indicator which was supposed to forecast fertile days. Started a very lively debate as some of the girls took it seriously.

I have to be honest, and say it does help me a lot. I often get parked when others are looking round for ages.

The best bit is that the actual disabled parking bays are a lot wider so you don't get someone putting a dent in you car!

The two hour parking on yellow lines comes in handy as well.

Great thing in Bury St Edmunds is that disabled bays are adjacent to M&S.

I got special permission from the council to park all day outside the pharmacy where I work. The walk from the car park was getting me down.
