I treat all my current service users as i would expect to be treated as a customer myself. I count myself lucky that at the moment my service users are a reasonably good bunch who appreciate what i do for them, and they now often seek me out for advice in matters unconnected with their daily doses. However in the past i have been subjected to abuse, threats, theft and attempts at physical harm from service users - i find that the majority of the time i can rise above this, as many other pharmacists do - but many of us become very jaded by this and often too quick to judge as a result.
What is unbelieveable is the way in that so many service users see it as a right to try and lie, cheat, steal attack and abuse someone who is at least attempting to help them. We as a profession suffer enormous amounts of unwarranted abuse from not just service users but from the general public too. In this forum, which for many acts with a mild screen of anonyminity, it allows us to release some of the pent-up frustrations we encounter on a daily basis.
i think David has touched on this in another thread.
If you came on here to offer us insights from a service user / ex service user perspective, then your views are welcomed, and your experiences could well be valuable and enlightening to us.
If you came on here trying to insult, goad or upset us, well you know where the door is.
I sincerely hope it's the former and not the latter!
