Exclamation What's wrong with this script

Tablets Paracetamol 500mg
2 tds
(20)

girl - 11 yrs old

I don't get what's wrong with it, the max does for someone who is that old is 4g. If 2 were taken 3 times a day then thats 6*500mg = 3g?

I would ask if the child was as big as an average 12 year old , and if so, allow it to be dispensed

Don't quite follow..do you know, or have a reason to think there's something wrong with it? I suppose there could be a body-weight issue..is she an amputee? Off the wall maybe, but I came across an adult patient with no legs who weighed 6 stone...

i do not see any problem with the script! would dispense and double check if the patient is able to take tablets..... well the prescriber should double check if he is happy with tablets or liquid form.

I think my thread title is a bit misleading. I am practising with this script and I found nothing wrong with the dose but laura(also on this forum) said there could be a possible overdose? and I should question the formulation but I don't see any problem with the dose and even tablet form is fine.

maybe you are missing some legal requirement of Rx i.e signature of prescriber, future dated/out of date script? prescriber address? patient surname missing? dose not matching her PMR? is she on other paracetamol containing products?
