It was representing David the locum vs Goliath the multiple. Go get it from your bin, or I can send you my copy if you wish.

    Re: GP's Attitudes

Getting back to the original question "thanks" is not too much to ask but too much to demand. If an individual is rude you don't assume all members of the same profession are rude.

I was involved in a serious dispensing error recently (my fault, no-one else's) and the doctor was incredibly sympathetic. He bought me a pint and pointed out that we alone have no safety net. They can rely on us as a "back stop" but who do we rely on.....?

The fact that this humane, compassionate and decent man is a doctor doesn't indicate that they are all like this. Some I count my fingers after shaking hands with them!

Interesting... for my experience... I spoke to the nicest specialist doctor ever.... she was very polite and modest on the phone when I discussed about the dose of Topamax (topiramate), probably she is a paediatric specialist, that's why!?

    Re: GP's Attitudes

im sure if elaine had got to speak to the doctor s/he would have said Thank You. Once had a doctor writing concerta capsules (handwritten), spoke to him and he provided a changed script, so thought had it sorted out until next time another Rx for "concerta XL 18/36mg Capsules", turned up, patient said the doctor said it is ok to write concerta like that as they look like capsules and if we had any queries to ring him, we told the patient we would have to get it changed, on which point the patient asked for the Rx back sayin a certain multiple will do 'em.

so even with all the effort with the doctor, we were back to square 1 and lost a customer/patient in the process. (And someone dispensed an invalid Rx)

and actually I was the one to point this out to the pharmacist, When the doctor was previously talked to (by me while a pre-reg), he said he'd been writing like that for years and had experienced no problem previously, sayin thankyou was the last thing on his mind.

actually ive served the same patient as a pharmacist, in the same pharmacy, points out that patients will go for convenience over wateva else. we were the closest pharmacy and she was willing to come back to us with a similar Rx despite being disappointed last time and having had to go to another pharmacy last time. (this time was a printed Rx by GP so was ok)
