Exclamation cetirizine 10mg tablets - higher the better?

recently seen a few script
Rx: Cetirine 10mg Tablets
take up to two tablets each day

then come another one
Rx: Cetirizine 10mg tablets
take up to two tablets four times a day when required

rang the doctor he said 'have you not seen the new guidelines'?
does anybody comes across a new guidelines or somemat about cetirizine??

I've seen 1 BD a few times but never any higher.

Jepp,
10 mg BD sometimes used to support treatment of asthmoid conditions of allergical geneses, a SPC says.

which SPC is that? it is not unlicensed use??

can't find it in Zirtek Allergy Tablets SPC

At the very least, I would require sight of these "new guidelines", and be happy with their source.

When a strange one like this pops up, it's a good idea to ring the manufacturer's drug information department..I've always found them very helpful.

I am not aware of the guidelines in both new Zealand at America it is licenced at up to 20mg daily...as far as I am aware always has been.

I have a friend in Englnad who recently also commented how the information leaflet not spc now stated up to two a day.

Had a script once for Astemizole 2 BD didn't dispense it though - got straight on to doctor and got it changed to 1 od, this was the days before it was withdrawn from use.

Wasn't one of the antihistamines licensed for asthma, think it was Ketotifen?
