Can somebody please advise me on the legality of this product. I can't seem to find it in the MEP or BNF. Manufacturers description is as 'Ethyl Chloride BP' but it's not listed under british pharmacopoeia online either.
Reason I'm asking is because I want to buy some for someone as a local anaesthetic prior to weekly injection for treatment of RA. Can only find it for sale online - some websites requiring Rx, some selling it without but at very high prices. Also - can it be bought in community without Rx.
Re: Cryogesic Direct Stream Spray (Ethyl Chloride)
Used to be used as a local anaesthetic, I had a tooth removed when I was a child many years ago. We used to supply it in large glass vials with a spray valve. Have an idea was subject to abuse.

Re: Cryogesic Direct Stream Spray (Ethyl Chloride)
we;ve tried to outpaw the glass vial with spray valve. Arguments if used in a ward environment without proper ventilation, could ahve an anaesthetic effect on people breathign in the vapours, or if the vial smashed!
we someyimes use yhe spray to check the block on epidurals
Re: Cryogesic Direct Stream Spray (Ethyl Chloride)
Ok thank you for your help. Turns out it might not be under medicines act and is treated as a chemical rather than a medicine. Bought some off the internet hopefully should work. Thanks again for your help
