Who is Prince Albert? Some sort of royalty I guess, do you have to get on one knee to greet him?

    Sorry couldn't resist.

Would a tounge piercing affect this too? As it's not strictly visible, and I know you can get flat, skin/tounge coloured ones that you can use to kind of camouflage.
I don't have one, and had a horrific experience in a piercing place before so I never want a piercing, I'm just simply wondering!

My reply to Minisini re a Price Albert many months ago (look in wikipaedia) has been erased as offensive. At the risk of being considered offensive again, what is the use of a tongue (note spelling) piercing, fellatio?
Piercings with the exception of ear piecing for ear rings, are resorted to by the inadequate members of our society as a defiant message.
Perhaps you could copy the noble savage and have your ear lobes extended with discs, nose pierced with a mini spear, and your neck stretched with brass rings.
Your body is a temple, do not desecrate it.
    Wooden spoon time again.

Nose rings/studs and belly button piercings are common among women from south-east asian countries and the middle east. Perhaps they have sensual connotations ?

Perhaps something akin to female circumcision.

Why make an exception for the ears? Why do we regard ear rings as normal for women but slightly more suspect for men?

As Nik says, what part of the body gets pierced is really a cultural thing.

as well as cultural, its personal preference as well...who are we to dictate to others what they should and shouldn't do to their faces/bodies...has no effect on us so why should we say what they can/can't do?!??!

What did disturb me was the babies being brought in to have their ears pierced. Should be for above age of consent.
The babies had no say in the matter.

To be honest, if you can cover it up then what's the problem? If you can't see it, it can't hurt you. The Prince Albert is a perfect example, however if you don't keep that concealed during an interview then you are probably not applying for a job in a pharmacy... I can imagine there would be some inappropriate use of the shop's all-in-one scanner/printer/copier/fax machine!
