What is a realistic starting basic wage for a newly qualified retail Pharmacist.

Hi, I know this question has been asked many times but I guess it is appropiate to ask as on this forum people are in good positions to answer.

I have seen the basic wages that the big retail stores are offering, They are between 30k to 45k (yes I know the more hours you do the bigger the pay - especially Tescos).

What would be a realistic basic wage if one was to join one of these big retail stores after completing the pre registration, assuming one would work the 37 to 39 hours? Also do people believe that Pharmacists wages will go up maybe in the future(not now due to the recession of course) taking into account as Pharmacists may be able to do more things such as health checks and the like?

    Many thanks.

I guess that's a nice, clear, straightforward question for someone. Not me, however!

The wider questions of career/salary etc are being addressed here:
Average salary of a UK retail pharmacist - the truth?

so that would be worth reading for you, for some background as to what you might expect.
    ....just my opinion

oh someones thinking of working "part time" are they, a full-time pharmacist normally does atleast 45 hours, or at minimum 40 hours, i.e. if the pharmacy shuts one hour for lunch each day(very rare these days). quite alot of pharmacy open from 9 till 7 so that would be 50 hours mon-fri!!!!!!!!!

When you hear Dolly Parton singing 'Nine to Five', she is not referring to pharmacy.

When Dolly Parton sings "Nine to Five" I'm not thinking of pharmacy, either

And that is of course work for literally every minute of 40-45hrs.
If you get time to use the toilet, take the cordless phone and the BNF with you in case you get a query.
Where am I?; In the Pharmacy.
Who are you?; The new Number 2.
Who is number 1?; You are number 6.
    What do you want?;..................

I enjoyed the utube clip. If she had been singing about pharmacy would have been 8 - 7 without a break.

    Absolute minimum would be £35k.
A top busy store manager should be getting £50k if they are good and meet their targets etc, but that would be for someone with proven experience and a track record of results.

If you just want to do the bear minimum you will get paid accordingly.

If you want to get paid more work (hard and increase turnover & profits) for an independant.
