hi i am a pre-reg and one of the questions puzzling me is if a patient came in to your pharmacy and demanded to see his pmr what could be done? are we aloud to show him what we have on file?

under the data protection act (please stop me if i'm wrong, because i don't think i've ever had this happen) the patient must submit a request in writing for the disclosure of their personal details. They can't simply walk in and demand to see their pmr. They may be charged an admin fee of up to £10 (which may have changed - i can't remember!) and can be expected to recieve a response within a set time period (which i can't remember). If you're a pre-reg give your super's office a ring tomorrow and pick their brains.
“It's not worth doing something unless you were doing something that someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren't doing.”
Terry Pratchett
We had that happen a few years ago. A patient had changed doctors and the new doctor wanted to see everything that they had previously been prescribed. We had to get written letter from the patient to approve and request it but I don't remember a charge having to be paid.
Under Pharm Manager and Mediphase can leave flash up messages on pt records. Just be careful what you record.
