    Question Dyslexia

I'm posting this question on the behalf of my friend. Does having a professional diagnosis of dyslexia, hinder any job prospects in pharmacy?

My friend worries that people may not employ him as a pharmacist on the grounds that a person with dyslexia will make more errors.

I ensured him that if his disability was a cause for concern it would of been highlighted in the application process.

A blind person cannot be a surgeon, can a dyslexic person be pharmacist?

One of our pre-reg's excelled and qualified last summer without difficulty and she has dyslexia. Also, my flatmate at uni had the sae and is now qualified.

There is no discrimination, in fact the opposite. At university they will account for dyslexia and support, even providing extra time in exams etc. For the pre-reg exam, the same applies.

the "bonus" is that they always had the nice new and free computers!

Did either of them have any difficulty finding work after qualifying?

    No.

Employers are not allowed to discriminate!

Both are now successful hospital Pharmacists enjoying jobs in very respectable "well known" London hospitals.

    regards

Thank you for your reply. Just to take the conversation a little further, I think it might benefit other people to know what about other disabilities ADHD/ADD, dyspraxia, dyscalculia etc and if they would effect job prospects of a pharmacist.

    Can they do the job?
    Yes or No?
Disability doesn't matter if one can manage what is required.

I employed a partially sighted pharmacist once as she could so the job (very well as it turned out) despite her disability.
