I'm a lean, mean dispensing machine baby.

Can I have a special annotation on the GPhC register for that?

No No No! You must realise that all a pharmacist does is stick labels on boxes. (opinion of public and DUH).

I've been in touch with the GPhC and they have assured me that you can describe yourself as a
    Dispensing And Labelling Extempore Keyboard,
although you may use the postnominals as an abbreviation.
    ....just my opinion

Exterminate, exterminate! Just what the DUH and multiples would like. A new order would be established of compliant techs.

Have to agree with you I'm afraid.
Perhaps its time we stopped helping them though.
Rolling over and let them dictate the RP rules, when it should be us saying No.
If I sign on 2 hours early, then I get two hours pay. End of.
Otherwise. Nay, Nay and thrice Nay.

I do have some sympathy for the pharmacy owner, who has been caught by this ill-thought-out legislation, which does nothing for patient safety whatever.

In the old days before we were considered responsible lol, what happened before we arrived and after we left was the responsibility of the pharmacy superintendent, which is where all the power actually lies to create and maintain the systems and training so that the staff don't do anything to affect patient safety, like give stuff out without it being checked, for instance.

So I was quite happy to stroll in a 9 and check stuff prepared in the early hours by the dispensary staff. I certainly wouldn't have expected to be paid for that time. And I can see why employers would like to reassure us that nothing has changed.

The recent CPS guidance might mean that when the inevitable occurs, the RP could demonstrate that the SOPs were not being followed by the staff, but the RP would still be defending himself against the RP legislation. There would certainly not be an assumption that, as s/he had nothing to do with it, s/he must be innocent of blame. The pharmacist superintendent, however, would be off the hook - and it would really be only that person who has the power to put things right!

I think charging for the two hours in absentia isn't really justified: however I do think that if we are to be de facto responsible, we must be present and actively supervising in person.

By a circuitous route even for me - that is my point.
If the pharmacy is so busy that it needs to start activity two hours earlier - then why isn't there a physical RP on site.
