Oh dear, I think we all a bit nerdy, I remember asking for a minutes silence from my class on Bastille Day in memory of Lavoisier? who was executed on the premise that the revolution has no need for scientists.

On TV is the Human Journey. Not possible today as no longer any fertile empty space in the world. Hollywood has it's own solution in the new disaster film being promoted now.
Watching Slumdog made me realise that nature has not been able to implement it's own solutions. The Black Death helped to end serfdom in Europe. The law of supply and demand is always there.

Re. bananas....Best attempt at a chat-up line I think I ever heard was from one of the lads, late on a Saturday in Aberdeen, to a local quinie... "Is that your nose or are you eating a banana"? Caramelized nuts require their own thread, I fear.
Re. A round tuitt..leave it with me, and I'll get a round tuitt.

The whole theme of humanity is to live in harmony with nature. We interfere precisely because we are human. We chop down trees and the result is Easter island. We drive cars, warm ourselves etc-- global warming. Societies that have managed to live in constricted areas do so by various means. A proportion of children are sent to become monks, nuns, priests etc where they devote their lives to others and do not increase numbers. Some practice war on their neighbours and occasionally eat them. This tends to keep the population stable and sustainable in an area with restricted natural resources. Remote valleys in the Himalayas and New Guinea were examples.
Nature will eventually rectify the situation by one or more of the four horsemen.
I do not have the answer to mankind's problems and have spent my life thwarting nature. I am taking up resources that I shouldn't as I have been saved from dying of a stroke by modern medicine.
However, either we control our population or nature will eventually do it for us.
