O2 £15 per month top up sim card

Hi all
I noticed O2 have a new deal-get the sim and top up by £15 per month and you get 500 texts and unlimited internet access. I basically would love this for internet use as I am staying in a short term job, and there is no internet, full stop.
My question is this to any of you tech loving folk: I have sim card slot on my laptop (dell Vostro 1520) and I have never used this slot. If I top up the sim with £15, would i then be able to put the sim card into the slot and connect to the net via O2? Or is my only option to stick that sim into a decent internet phone such as blackberry or iphone? If I could get it to work via the laptop that would be awesome!

If I recall correctly , was some months ago when I looked the internet was only on your phone and you had to pay more for iphone/laptop or blackberry there was a @fair use@limit of 200mb a month although I don't think they charge if you go a little over. You can get an 02 data package as well quite cheap for laptops etc, either as a dongle or from the o2 shop, rates are about £15 a month for 3gb @fair use@ or £2 a day. I suggest you shop around. I used a 3 dongle all of last year as I had no internet and it varied from slower than dial up to quite quick depending on the time of day and the weather and randomly stopped working at times for days at a time.

I made the mistake of thinking I could sign up with 02, link my Blackberry to my laptop and surf on the move!!!!! Don't do it!!!! They will charge you extra...loads extra. As Paul2008 suggests, get a dongle and also check your area coverage. 3's coverage was very poor but it may be better now.

I went for the Vodafone dongle thing and it's rubbish. I have only ever had the blue light on it ONCE (3G connection) and it lasted for about ten minutes.

It costs me £15 per month and if I watch ONE YouTube video on it my monthly allowance is just about gone.

I can cancel it they tell me, but I have to pay up to the end of my contract at the rate of £15 per month - why would anyone go for a deal like that? The only thing it's good for is getting e-mail, but with all the other devices out there now that's easily done.

When I signed up for this I don't think the iPhone was out, but one of a shops staff showed me the speed of hers and it was amazing. She was watching YouTube videos with no problems.
