I think Sir Dispensalot just need to free up the cash to run his cougar, mind you petrol prices are coming down. I'd love to have TVR tuscan but for now I'll just stick with our economical 1.8 Ford Focus.

money freed up by selling Trashtra = £5000
money spent on low mileage cougar = £1400
money extra on insurance for a significantly faster car = £70
money spent extra on fuel = none with a light right foot, £10 per week extra driving like a loon
money spent fixing little niggles on cougar = £100
Look on Lady_Dispensalot's face when i pulled up in it = priceless
She was banking on me letting her use my car after she passed her test. Muahahahahahahahahahah!!!

“It's not worth doing something unless you were doing something that someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren't doing.”
Terry Pratchett
I used to have a few sporty type cars: I had a cavalier GTI when they were just in and that was great. It was black and gleaming, and all the girls would turn their heads as I went by. Then one kind soul told me that it was because it resembled the cars used by a local firm of taxis. I got a Peugeot 309GTI which was just phenomenally quick, but your ankles were the crumple zones. When one wet night I discovered myself aquaplaning backwards on the M62 at 80 (speed estimated, my speedo only went down to 10mph so minus 80 was out - damage was amazingly only a tuft of grass under the bonnet but my underwear came close to being written off) I thought my speeding days should be brought to a close before my life was, and the following week went out and bought a mini metro.
I now drive a skoda fabia saloon. Need I say more? I get my kicks by going at 20mph along the central line of country roads while admiring the Cougar overheating in my rear view mirror.
....just my opinion
Nice one DavidS.
I told my dad someone had nicked his very old Peugeot for a fabia when he got his new one. My dad also dives like you but gives way if it's local people, he lives in the countryside. He now has a small 4x4, after beaching his fabia on snow last year.
Does anyone have an opinion on the Vauxhall/Opel Antara ? I'm thinking of getting one....
I don't suppose I'm the only one who drives a Ford Focus!?! It is sea grey mind you!
No I drive a Focus, moondust silver. 1.8 Zetec 3 door hatch. Love it to bits. Had it for nearly two years now, best car we've ever had and we've had a few over the years.
Knowing I would buy the car when I retired, my last company car was chosen carefully. I wanted a/c and a sun roof and a coffee cup holder and fresh air to face while heater on. The only car which measured up was the mazda 626.
I bought it from the company when I retired and it had 80k on the clock. Never had to add any oil between services and finally part exchanged for a mazda 3 when the 626 had 135k mileage. Never gave me any trouble.
Unfortunately, my wife finds the 3 still a bit large for her so will change for the mazda 2 when I finally retire. She drives an 18 yr old nissan micra and again never any trouble.

Hi guys. I'm currently driving a Fiat Punto having passed my test just over a year ago. I really fancy getting a Hyundia Coupe because I love the shape and they seem good value. What do other people think about them?
I love my little MX5 (I don't mind looking like a hairdresser). It's nippy & cute. Too light to easily drive in the snow but that's what my hubbie car is for. I'm going to have to trade in my baby for an automatic. Got arthritis in my feet & it kills me using the clutch if there is any traffic![]()
