With clopridogrel, it is one of those items that you need to know what the patient is being treated for and under what circumstances. If the patient has had a stent fitted, but the cardiologist had trouble placing it and it is at a bit of an odd angle in the lumen, the patient may need to be on clopridogrel for a lot longer...
Peripheral vascular disease is another indication for life-long (or limb-long!) therapy if the patient cannot tolerate warfarin.
